June 13, 2019 is marked as one of the most iconic nights in Toronto’s sporting history as its the night when the Toronto Raptors won the NBA Finals to clinch the Championship. With the excitement building from an extended playoff run and the city buzzing with excitement, the win instantly released an explosion of happiness and celebration across the city. Crowds flocked into the streets and gathered downtown to celebrate the night away until the early hours of the morning. While thousands roamed the streets to celebrate, the city was bursting with a sense of community and happiness that was truly special.
Task
A spur of the moment decision to rush downtown and capture the special moments in the streets that night. These photos are the result of me spending several hours walking around downtown and photographing Torontonians celebrating the night together. I am proud of these photos due to how candid and authentic the photos were and also the iconic night it captured. My experience working in dynamic events and shows definitely paid its dues as I was comfortable working through large crowds in the streets and capturing moments as they were happening.
