Complexland will change virtual events forever.

With the global pandemic shutting down almost all the annual festivals and events of note around the globe, there have been many attempts to shift existing events online. Many have tried and while some have certainly found a level of success shifting to online platforms, they have for the most part missed the mark with events failing to replicate . With that being said, COMPLEXLAND, the annual arts, culture & fashion festival hosted by The Complex Network, is poised to re-invent itself as an virtual festival and may just change the way virtual events are done forever.

COMPLEXLAND: AN OPEN-WORLD, SHOPPABLE 3D VIRTUAL DESTINATION.

The new COMPLEXLAND seeks to create an immersive experience like no other; a virtual destination that is not only accessible across all platforms and regions but also pushes the boundaries of what experiential content can be. Users around the globe will be able to explore the COMPLEXLAND world free through their devices and interact with a variety of neighborhoods through custom avatars that they can use to interface with the virtual world around them. This marks the first event of its kind in terms of scale, access as well as technological convergence that sees the worlds of fashion, music, culture and technology all come together in pursuit of creating an experience like no other.

JAM3 & COMPLEXLAND

The creative agency behind this event is JAM3, who are one of my favorite design and experience agency, who constantly manage to create work that impresses and redefines what is possible. What inspires me about their work is the boldness with which they approach even the most abstract and complex projects. While taking COMPLEXLAND “virtual” may seem like a challenge for any agency, I think it takes something more to meet the challenge head on and look to build a new experience entirely that will reflect the new world around us.

Here are some of the features JAM3 have developed for COMPLEXLAND:

Custom Avatars, Exclusive Virtual Shops, Virtual Food Trucks, Surprise Drops, Speaker Panels, Artist Performances, Film Screenings & Much more!

Final Thoughts

I am extremely excited to attend this year’s COMPLEXCON and eager to explore the virtual destination that JAM3 has built. I am looking forward to experiencing the browser-based interactions and immersive elements of the event to better understand whether virtual events will be able to create unique transcendental experiences. I am optimistic that this will open the gates for more virtual events that incorporate immersive experiences as part of their content.
